Today we got back in the swing of things.  It was so nice to start getting back into our routine. 

Tyler still wasn't feeling good so Jaci was kind of on her own today.  We played dress up with the princesses for a couple of hours today.  I can't even begin to count how many of those little princess dresses I changed today. 

I think Jackson was happy to go back to school and see his friends.  He was starting to get really bored here last week being trapped in the house. 

Tyler managed to keep some food and water down today but still wasn't feeling good.  I went ahead and gave him some medicine to help with the nausea because he was just looking so weak after a day of not eating.  Tyler has very little fat on his body so when he gets sick you can see it on him right away.  Thankfully he was able to eat and keep it down and even began to perk up a bit tonight.

After Jacob got off work we went out to the house to work on cleaning the floors.  Let me tell you that this is the hardest thing we have done out there so far.  It just takes so much time and there is no easy way to get them done.  I would just take buckets of water and then use the floor scraper to try to soften the mud.  Then I would use the broom to scrub the floors and try to get the fine stuff up that I couldn't scrape.  Jacob would follow me mopping up the water that I was scrubbing with.  We also had the kids help with the scraping, sweeping, mopping process.  It was crazy and I am so sore!

We still have one hallway and all of the bedrooms to do but the main living areas and kitchen/dining room are done.  I might try to head out there tomorrow and finish up the hallway while the kids are at school.

We will just see how I am feeling in the morning.

Today Tiffany's husband was supposed to come and start putting tile in but we decided to cancel because I am still running a fever and feeling like I have been hit by a bus.  It is a good thing he didn't come because this day has been a disaster! 

We absolutely had to get our floors cleaned up today so around lunch we all headed out to the house.  I realize that it wasn't the smartest move given the fact that I was still running a fever at the time but this couldn't wait.  When we got out to the house Tyler started throwing up.  As I was dealing with Tyler, Jacob turned on the water and instantly I knew something was wrong.  Water was spraying from our bathtub and running down the wall and all over our laundry room floor.  Even though we had turned off the water and drained the lines, apparently there was still some water in the lines.  When that happened it was obvious that we weren't going to be able to clean the floors.  We picked up a broom and started to sweep really good but 3 rooms into it Tyler was outside throwing up again and I was coughing up a lung so I headed home with the kids.

Thank goodness I was sick and cancelled having Felipe come in otherwise it would have been a waisted trip for him. 

Tyler has thrown up every 15 minutes all afternoon and can't keep anything down.  He is pretty miserable and I am trying to help him out but I don't want to get too close to him and give him my germs.  (Or me get his.) 

Simply put...it has been a miserable day!

We finally thawed out enough to make it out to the house and see things.  This was around noon after a couple of hours above freezing. 

Everyone was so sick of being in the house so we decided to head to Abilene and catch a movie and go to Lowe's.

Jacob and Jackson went to see True Grit. 

Tyler, Jaci and I went to see Tangled.  It was really cute!

I came home sick and running a high fever and have been sick ever since then.

I'm pretty sure I have the flu.

It isn't fun!

Today we started to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The sun came out and we got up to 32 degrees! 

Hopefully tomorrow we will really start to thaw out.

I am ready! 

We did get out today and play in the snow.  It wasn't nearly as miserable as it was on Tuesday. 

It is amazing how much warmer 32 degrees feels than the below 0 wind chill we had on Tuesday. 

The kids were so happy to get out of the house! 

Jacob even got in on the fun this time!

Snowed in...Day 3!

The kids wanted to build a fort in the bunkbeds and watch a movie in there.

(While eating apples.)

They are going crazy...I am going crazy...And we get to do it all again tomorrow

Yay! 

This is the ice that has developed on the inside of our windows.  It is thick and has the blinds iced down to the window seal.  It's crazy.  The bonus of having our windows and doors iced over is that I think it is helping keep the draft out a bit.

I am ready for the weekend and the warmer temperatures!

Today was another snow day! 

It was bitter cold with a high of 16 degrees.  The wind chills were below 0 most of the day.

At one point this morning one of the heaters we had running showed that it was 48 degrees inside.

I was able to somewhat warm the house up by keeping 2 burners going on high all day long.  I know you aren't supposed to do that but I had to do something.  I kept water in a large stock pot on each burner and just let it boil all day long.  It helped heat the house and as an added bonus my skin doesn't feel quite as dry as it did this morning. 

The kids stayed in the pajamas all day long.  They are getting a little stir crazy so we have been playing a lot of Wii!  I even let them open up a new game so we are all having fun.

They are out of school again tomorrow.  The weather just isn't improving and the roads are so icy!  I would be surprised to see them go on Friday as well.  We will see. 

The benefit of the snow is that I was able to make us some snow ice cream last night.  It has probably been at least 15 years since I last had snow ice cream.  Making it for the kids brought back so many wonderful memories of my mom and grandma making it for me when I was young.

The kids thought it was the greatest thing in the world!  They had 2 bowls yesterday and 2 today!

(Why not...It isn't often that we get such a treat!)

SNOW!!! 

This is the first time that the kids have seen this much snow.  They saw a little last year in Robert Lee but not enough to fully cover the ground.  Last night we got 7-8 inches and the kids were so excited! 

They were out of school today but woke up 45 minutes before they normally do ready to see the snow.

I was not amused! 

It was cute to see their excitement. 

We spent about 40 minutes layering up and getting ready to go out. 

All necessary because when we headed out there was a wind chill factor of -4 degrees! 

It was bone crushing cold! 

 

They didn't seem to mind though. 

They boys tackled each other in the snow and had a snowball fight. 

They tasted the snow. 

All of them were amused at how my car looked. 

 

We all worked on building a snowman. 

At this point Jackson was pretty much over the cold and ready to go in. 

Jaci and Tyler pushed through and finished the snowman. 

Granted he is a really small snowman but the snow wasn't packing together too well so I was happy we got what we did. 

It was a lot of fun.  COLD...but wonderful being out with them enjoying the snow. 

And the aftermath is 2 loads of laundry and a wet floor but totally worth it!
