216/365

Tonight the kids did a little more swimming while I packed to go to my mom's house tomorrow.  We are just going in for the weekend to escape the heat and celebrate Jaci's birthday.
Today I talked to a Pediatric allergist in Dallas who has a peanut desensitization program.  This is something that is VERY new and just finished up the trial phase but so far has had wonderful results and has been done in Europe for years.  Before there was simply nothing you could do for a peanut allergy other than completely avoid them  After talking to them and discussing the program we have decided we are going to move forward with it.  It will be a long expensive process that will have us traveling to Dallas every week for 4-6 months.  We are on the waiting list for a new patient appointment and will discuss when the best time to start the program will be.  Ideally we would start in May and go through the summer but we will see.  There would be some benefits to starting it right away but school would be an issue.  At least we have the ball rolling and hopefully after the initial program and a 3 year maintenance program Jackson will no longer be allergic to peanuts.  It is a HUGE commitment but one that we all feel is worth it.  As it is now Jackson is scared to go to camps, school, birthday parties etc. because he is so worried peanuts will be there.  That is no way to go through life.
Tomorrow after art camp all of the kids have dentist appointments.  Last year when we took them it didn't go so well so I am a bit worried.  Wish me luck.  I will be there ALONE with all 3 do it has the potential to be a disaster of epic proportions.  Let's hope that a year of maturity will make things so much easier!
